In the reading of Muriel Schulz "The Semantic Derogation of Woman", the writer talks about words where describe woman in a slang or profound way. The writer says this is because men fear woman's attitudes and this is the only path they can allow it out. Schulz's talks about how precisely words as time passes that have been nice and gentlemanly like or had a good interpretation have grown to be rude and slanderous towards girl. I hope by the finish of this newspaper you will better understand what Schulz's point of view was aiming to explain.
The main concern the author points out is how the terms we use today will complete to new generations. She says it throughout the newspaper that men of degenerated all of these words in some way or form to insult woman. For example she says Shakespeare degenerated the word lewd to imply prostitute(Schulz, 45). No matter how small or discrete were about using slang words sooner or later a new era will commence to use it and unless a generation decides to avoid utilizing a part of dialect it will continue to keep spread. Men throughout history have designed the words throughout the decades and have always made unequal's. For instance, "all men are created identical" this affirmation via our founding fathers. Two things are incorrect with that phrase: founding fathers, not founding mothers, and all men are created equal not absolutely all humans are created equivalent. Though it holds true men have composed the terminology and regulations we currently and had used, the future appears brighter and brighter for female as they infiltrate the federal government. In addition, but girl are an enormous part of how exactly we are increased. They are not only instructing us in the school room, but at home too. This I really believe disproves the writer who claims men help women stay from the office. There is no way girl would maintain office if it wasn't for men standing up for girl and voting for them too. This is where I really believe Schulz lacks data for her circumstance.
The next area of the article Schulz discusses is the slander used to describe old or over weight woman. She speaks about how men have made words like "cow" and "warhorse" to spell it out these women(Schulz, 43). I believe half of this holds true. I've never read an old or overweight girl called a warhorse(Schulz, 44). A warhorse or steed usually identifies a, fast, athletic person. However, she will list other terms that I'd have fully agreed upon like "hag". Elderly women still today are called old hags but still today it's an insult(Schulz, 43). Folks who are overweight these days are stilled called cows, and old people are called old hags, these are both insults. Once more she lacks evidence and makes a mistake saying that if you called a guy a granny he'd take it as an insult. EASILY were called a granny I would just look at the person funny and say do you look like a girl for you.
The next issue Schulz discusses is how words like "tramp" and "mistress" have degenerated over time to become words that express woman if they have sex too much or cheat on the man(Schulz, 46). She makes a good point in that things female do that assist pleasure men are created to look degrading, and are searched down upon. Such acts for example are stripping and prostitution. I'd have to buy into the publisher full heartily on this issue. Even though men love skimpy little clothing on girls, I cannot help and look back about how hypocritical we are on those women. Some of these women are well advanced young women just trying to produce a buck, to allow them to get through university and become a helpful person to culture. A good example would be Woman Gaga who's now a favorite pop singer in the country. Even though her parents were well off and may purchase her college, she decided to strip to cover her school and make herself an unbiased woman.
The last thing the author brings up is excatly why men dread to be poor with women. She says men just can't stand it that girls are biologically more powerful than men through the early stages of life because young ladies strike puberty faster. Women also have an extended life-span and are less inclined to get diseases. Because of this men must say hostile things to girl to make themselves feel superior and make woman feel worthless. The author here is striving to finish off the reader here with a last onslaught against men, but she makes some blunders. Yes, kids do feel a little weaker when young girls start to expand taller than the, so they say mean what to make themselves feel superior. However, when men in their early twenties are taller than these ladies a why do they insult these young ladies now. It's certainly not because their uneasy these girls are going to outlast them in life, it is because folks think it's cool showing off before their friends, and see how bad they can insult a woman. I just feel the author really never protects this generation throughout the article.
To conclude I believe this newspaper was perfectly written overall. This feminist really has a love for what she's discussing and really shows it throughout the paper. However, I really do feel that she have lack proof sometimes through the paper, and this can leave holes in her tale. I hope I've helped you realize what Schulz's feminist point of view was looking to make clear.
