Can a Thesis Statement Be a Question?
  1. Purpose of Thesis Statement

There is no doubt that the most important parts of the thesis lie in those subtle areas that the laymen may not pay much attention to. It is not wrong to say that the abstract of a thesis and the thesis statement is the most important parts of the thesis due to the type of work they do in the text. Now, you must not fail to include a very workable and feasible thesis statement whenever you are writing a thesis. There is no particular type of thesis that comes with a statement. Whether you are writing a phd dissertation or a master's thesis, you must have space for a well-crafted statement. In the same vein, we have also noticed that every paper style or writing format allows the appearance of a thesis statement.

This is to say that whether you are writing your paper with an APA style or whether you are writing a cms style paper, you must give a perfect statement. Again the type of writing you are doing does not negate the thesis statement. Many people will need to be clarified about the statement before they can make any input on whether it can be in the form of a question. You have to realize that the statement in question is used as a roadmap for the thesis. Now, whenever you are doing a work that involves volumes and volumes of information to give out, you have to do well to let the people have at least an overview of the contents of the test, so that people will not be bored in the bid to search out the essentials of the work. A thesis statement shows the readers the direction you are going in the thesis to decide whether to follow you or not.

Purpose of Thesis Statement

There is another angle we should clear when answering the question "can a thesis statement be a question". Now, there is something called the topic sentence, and this must not be mistaken for the thesis statement. While the statement informs the readers where you are headed, the topic sentence will show them how or when to get to that destination. So, the two works hand in hand. The thesis statement has the function of establishing the content of the paper. The statement must give out some key points, and all the other parts of the thesis must set out to support the points claimed in the statement.

Now, having said that writing a thesis comes with two different significant parts, namely thesis statement and topic statement, we are also glad to inform you that one of these two must come in the form of a question, while the other should not. The statement is the conclusion that you want to get to or that your paper will take the people to. Because of this, it is proper that a conclusion being sought or driven should appear as a question and an answer and not only a question. You are going towards a solution, and solutions come in the form of answers. When you want to write a thesis statement, you have to, first of all, write the question that you want to answer in the thesis. After this, you should go ahead and write the answer to the question in a very elaborate and complete sentence.
