He suffers from these problems in daily life leading to insomnia. This is where the papers focus on different mental problems that the main character undergoes in the movie. Some of the scenes make him have a stressful mind, clam and other effects that develop within the current situations that he undergoes. The movie focuses much on how the characters get affected psychologically by the events that go on around them. Distracted mind There several scenes that the characters display the distraction, this is brought out by their reaction and the emotions that they have. “The birth of mind is the death of the sense. ” Anxiety also develops in athletes who are top performing; this is because they fear to fail.

When someone is placed in a position where he or she has to worry most of the times, it can result in insomnia. Most of the athletes are much concerned about the final result; they do not get to know the harm that they cause to themselves while they are undergoing the process. They end up forgetting the other side of their life that is engaging in a personal relationship and dealing with the emotional problems. The dissatisfaction comes from failing to get what he wants. Some of the failures that are affecting him are such as; failing to be selected for the Olympic games, breaking his leg during the accident and also his coach giving up on him as he saw that he could not archive what he wanted to achieve in life.

When Dan feels that he has lost everything he goes ahead to say that “Life brought rewards but never brought satisfaction. ” Socrates is a friend to Dan who helps to realize himself. He helps Dan ton cope with the anxiety that is destroying him slowly. What makes his life hard is that he does not want to accept that he has lost thus hurting himself in a large manner. Socrates point Dan irrational premises by saying “If I was your trainer, no meat, no TV, no alcohol, no drugs and also no sex. ” The statement that is made by Socrates can be simply be interpreted that dan will finally regain his senses and attain a peace of mind, therefore, being able to solve his problems and also controlling the anxiety that has disturbed him for a long time.

The questions that Socrates asks Dan seem to be probing into fears, phobias and also anger. The state at which the mind of Dan his can only be helped by the professionals. His life had started to be a hell has he experienced more negativity than the positive side things in life. He feels that he had lost all, the state of mind that he was before he broke his leg was horrible due to the failure of being selected in the Olympics. The additional stress of braking is leg increase the anxiety and places is state of mind into a more diverse problem. For the car accident that Dan had was a result of over speeding while he broke his leg while he competed.
