Can Computers think

This means the act of using electronic machines in order to derive or process results from the data input by the use of arithmetic or logic elements. It is a complicated machine that can perform incredibly complex calculations at a higher speed with an accompaniment of hundred flashing lights. It is, however, important to note that computers are simple devices removed from electronic brains just as a bicycle is removed from the spaceship. The work prepared by the computer can be described as mind-bending exercise and has become a daily fact of life among the human beings. The computer cannot tell its user on how to go about the problem, but it can go ahead and perform the tasks. One fundamental questions that have been raised with time there is a possibility of computers to think or whether they do think.

This question was first raised by Alan Turing in the year 1950 and went ahead to propose a method to discover whether a computer could indeed think2. He was a well-established mathematician and computer scientist and he argued that one time an advanced computer would be able to think and have consciousness. It has been argued from different fields such as history and religion that human mind is very different from anything mechanical or nonliving things. Artificial intelligence is a term that is used by scientists to broadly describe advances in computer science that try to perform functions similar to those carried by human beings. Characteristics associated with the mental acts are; free will, incorrigibility (that only the person can know what is contained in his/her thoughts).
