Brief history of the Plant The desalination plant was mainly promoted by the late 2000s in a very quick response to counter the growing response of water restrictions and the growing population. This was also a Victorian government’s plan to save water for the betterment of the future. The marketing materials for this project were done through prints, advertisements and other digital platforms such as television and the internet. The project was also done in collaboration with other projects such as the North-South pipeline and the Cardinia Pipeline, which was supposed to be a connector to the Geelong. The project has encountered some oppositions from communities living near the site and some other community groups. This includes the conservation of water during the drought seasons and providing water (since it is a rainfall independent source) throughout the year.
