Sampling and Collecting Quantitative and Qualitative Data

Data Collection Method Questionnaires have the strengths of being completed in large numbers because they are completed by the subjects. Additionally, they can be completed remotely (at home, online, etc). They can be open ended (for qualitative studies) or multiple choice/scales for quantitative studies, (Flick, 2014, 76). A limitation of questionnaires is that there is no way to tell whether the subject has been thoughtful about their answers. Another limitation is that the subjects could read into the questions differently and interpret how they are supposed to answer differently than the researchers intended.
