Presentation of self, being part of a sociological behavior was brought into play by one main thinker known as Erving Goffman. Erving Goffman was fascinated by the difference he observed when an actor was on stage and when they were not acting. He concluded that an actor was presenting a certain act according to the expectations of their audience consequently confirming the concept of presentation of self (Goffman, 2002). The concept of presentation of self finds its roots in the interactionist theory which focuses on the way people make an image that is to be shown to the world and create an awareness of self within them that they believe to be true (Malone, 2013). Observation of presentation of self Our day today life experiences are dictated by the behavior of people around us so that they can leave a certain impression in us about them.

Her presentation of self becomes a public issue when, for instance, she may be very conservative in gatherings that expect her to be social thus her audience expectations do not match the portrayed character thereby a conflict of interest arises (Agnew and Duncan, 2014). Biography is one of the dimensions of personal problem as individuals strive to live depending on the way the world will approve rather than the way they can without the external pressure. The other dimension is individual’s experience whereby individuals are exposed to a certain way of doing things which seem to be acceptable to the outside world thus they tend to adapt such kind of acts. Historical timeline is associated to public issue whereby different times are comprised of different social behaviors.
