The song "Some Nights" is a single on the album with the same name. It is a song that has been interpreted in different ways by different people. Each person expressing what it means to them and how it relates to their personal experiences. Although there are various interpretations of the song some nights by fun, one undeniable fact is the song's theme of inner turmoil and self-doubt. The lyrics of the song tell a story of self-reflection and regret, a story of confusion and the battles fought within. " which shows that he feels lonely in this life of fame and is scared that Sam will move on and forget him. He is indecisive about leaving "the Format" to form "Fun," and misses his friend and how simple things were in his old life.

He goes on to sing, "The other night you wouldn't believe the dream I just had about you and me, I called you up but we'd both agree, It's for the best you didn't listen, It's for the best we get our distance. " which refers to the dream he had of being famous with Sam and how "it is for the best that Sam didn't listen," because he sees now that the life he had back then was a lot better. When the artist says, "But I still wake up, I still see your ghost," this line could be about his late mother and how he didn't build a closer relationship with her because he was building his career, the lyrics could also be about Sam or even about seeing the ghost of his old self as some believe that the whole song speaks about how much he has changed since becoming a celebrity and how he can no longer recognize himself, which is shown when he sings, ".
