Therefore, the existing healthcare initiatives that were put in place to address this gap in access is Elderly Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (EPIC), Medicaid and Medicare plan that is acceptable to dentists too, Free Denture Programs and National Care Planning Council Home and Health Care Centers for Elderly Program. These programs or rather initiatives have been developed to address the issue of accessibility of health care services and healthcare education, (Busby and Robson 17). They have been developed by respective government entities and non-governmental organizations that are mandated to address the issue of healthcare accessibility for an aging population. Each initiative has been launched and tasked to address a specific task in order to make it easier for the elderly population to access health care services (Kennedy & Nordrum 92).

However, challenges have been met and some of the initiatives have not met the targeted expectations of its developers. The Medicaid, Medicare and Free Denture Programs were designed to over medical cover to the aging population. The Medicaid program is a medical cover that covers the aging population’s health care bills. The Free Denture Programs were designed specifically by specific organizations that wanted to make dental health accessible to the aging population. Finally, the Home and Health Care Centers for Elderly Program was developed to aid the aging population by making health care services available to each and everyone that could access an elderly home, (Busby and Robson 14). This initiative was developed to strategies on how the community was going to care for the aging population.
