Name: Professor: Course: Date: The Impact of Machismo on Sexual Abuse in Latin America Gender identities are mainly constructed by social institutions as well as behavioural codes. They are also influenced by norms and actions in the society. The concept of machismo in Latin America has evolved over the years due to the change of patterns and customs in the society. Machismo is the presumption that a man is superior to women. As such the men possess characteristics such as the subordination of women objectification of women's body and obsession with women's reproductive abilities. Machismo views men as superior to them having control over all the sexual aspects of a female body and sexuality. Additionally chauvinistic men have elements of aggressiveness and hypersexuality further demonstrating their superiority over women.
