Crime Scene Investigation Report: Fingerprints Student’s Name Institution Fingerprints are small whorls ridges and valley patterns on the end of every finger. They are created from pressure on the baby’s little developing fingers while still in the womb. Fingerprints are unique and special since no two people all over the globe have been found to possess the same prints (Basil et al. 2010). The probability of two individuals having the same fingerprints is one out of 64 million. Fingerprints are more reliable than DNA identical twins may have same genetic material but prints will always be different. Fingerprints have been widely applied to solve crimes through active criminal investigations. They are mainly used because a print is an individual's feature and is different from any other person. They are also viable since fingerprints will never change throughout the lifetime of a person (Basil et al. 2010). Since fingerprints have role in solving crimes. Furthermore crimes committed long time ago can be revisited and there is a high probability that the suspect can be found. Due to the unique and distinct features of fingerprints it is easier and faster to solve crimes using them as compared to the DNA samples which may take several days analyze (FBI 2013). The advancement in technology will facilitate more documentation of fingerprints such that crimes committed anywhere in the globe can be solved quickly without delay. Fingerprints help convict dangerous criminals who would otherwise have gotten away with murder and other heinous crimes. References Basil  H. Pipes  L. Henderson  J. Cavalleri  K.
