What are the Galton Characteristic
Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Criminology
These characteristics/details are randomly scattered in the friction ridge skin formation and just like all the other components of the friction skin, are unique. With detailed examination of the friction ridge skin, it’s clear that the ridge path is continuous across the entire finger surface. Ending ridges flow to some end while others called bifurcations flow into to form two separate distinct ridges while dots are these ridges that are long and wide. There is also no duplication from one finger to the next. To make an identification the number of these characteristics doesn’t matter but become instrumental when making identifications (Stigler, 2005). Judge Louis Pollack in 2002 January made history with his ruling compromising use fingerprinting as admissible evidence in the United States Vs Llera Plaza Daubert.
