Explaining violent radicalization in Western Muslims A four factor model

This research article attempts to determine the factors with led to the amalgamation of the Western group into Islamic extremist groups and participating in terrorist activities. To begin with, the identity crisis is deliberated; this aspect is centred on the struggle of Western Muslim to uphold diverse cultural aspects of identity. The second factor included in the article is relative deprivation; the focus lies on the national as well as global levels of deprivation faced by Muslim community. The third factor emphasizes more personal aspects; individual characteristics such as sensation-seeking and narcissistic traits like to make Western Muslims to be involved in terrorist activities (Gurski, 2016). Last but not the least, empathy is discussed as a cause to Western Muslims radicalization. As far as this article is concerned, helping the radicalized people to reintegrate into society seems important to prevent them from organizing attacks on civilians and institutions in their country.
