Majority of its shareholders originate from Saudi Arabia with other Gulf countries having small shares. The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia owns approximately seventy percent of the shares. As at 2013, it was the largest chemical manufacturer and producer globally. Some of the projects it leads in producing include polypropylene, polyethylene, polyolefins, and methyltert-butyl ether. According to the Fortune Global 500, Sabic led in the production of chemicals in the world and it has led in the production of other diversified components. As compared to its production in previous years, the company has achieved a milestone in various sectors. Due to these developments majorly on increased human resource staff, production, manufacturing, and management, the company was faced with intense pressure to undertake a more agile, cost effective, and customer oriented company.

The company set out to address some of the challenges within the context of meeting its future strategies. It optimized on its existing portfolio and investment ideologies. For example, the Innovative Plastics Strategic Business Unit be based in Polymers SBUs and Chemicals. At the same time, it relocated its based to a different location to ease the facilities value chain process. The last phase of the process was to monitor the success of the entire change process that entailed physical movement of some facilities, absorption of new staff, and realignment of new production processes among other management details. The company thereafter weaved the change principles all through the organization to position it for additional management details. Six months into the change, Sabic realized improved customer satisfaction especially on its value chain process that saw products delivery achieved by a high percentage.
