In addition to that, exercise and physical activity may possibly improve some aspects of cognitive activities like the ability to effectively coordinate tasks and plan on them while ignoring irrelevant information. Therefore, my research topic is on the role of exercise in reducing anxiety. I will focus on the topic from different perspectives of exercises about promoting the emotional and mental well-being thus reducing anxiety on both the long-term and short-term. I will also highlight on the methodologies I intend to use in the actual study to reach a valid conclusion. Purpose of the Study There are several purposes for the study. It will be used to gauge progress and help them to reduce their anxiety levels.

Literature Review Herring and colleagues (2010), point out that anxiety remains to be unrecognized among patients who suffer from chronic illnesses. Frequent exercise and exercise can improve symptoms of anxiety among patents. They used the population size for exercise to determine its effects on anxiety by using different variables that are of moderate impact. By using different baseline models, they were able to make a comparison and made essential findings. Cross-sectional and longitudinal studies indicate that aerobic exercise has an antidepressant and anxiolytic effect by protecting against harmful consequences of stress. The effect of exercise on physical activity can be understood by basing it on the existing psychobiological knowledge thus providing a base for understanding the therapeutic social and psychological processes. Clinical exercise also provides psychological treatment which is particularly effective for patients whom psychological interventions have failed or are less acceptable.

This provides a baseline for my research to exemplify on the positive benefits of exercises. Lena Nordheim and colleagues (2006) sought to find the importance of exercise in preventing and treating anxiety among young people and children. They incorporated recent research on the correlation of oxidative stress with the anxiety behavior in rats in conjunction with overwhelming evidence of the anxiolytic effects of physical exercise on the same. In the study, they utilized rats to test the direct involvement of stress with behavior that is induced by anxiety and therefore identified an oxidative stress mechanism. They revealed interesting results in the sense that treadmill exercises significantly prevented BSO-induced anxiety-like behavior in rats while also preventing stress markers in urine, serum, and brain tissue homogenates.

Therefore treadmill exercises reduce oxidative stress markers in the brain regions of rats thus implicating an anxiety response that prevented behavior that was induced by anxiety. Results from this study are of clinical significance to human beings by laying the groundwork on the importance of treadmill exercises in reducing oxidative stress-induced anxiety behavior in human beings. Carek, Laibstain, and Carek (2011) conducted a study to identify the importance of exercise in treating depression and anxiety. Being the most common psychiatric conditions in medicine anxiety affects millions of people. Treatment for anxiety portrays different degrees of effectiveness. While physical activity has been associated with improved physical health and life satisfaction, it also decreases the symptoms of depression and anxiety. On the other hand, lack of exercises has been related to the development of psychological disorders thus supporting the use of exercises to treat anxiety.

I will engage half of them in month-long exercises while the other half being the control group. To ensure valid data, each of them will answer the questionnaire at different times. Data will then be recorded and quantitative analysis using the analysis tools done to simplify the data. Statement of Ethics The research will follow the essential principles of research ethics to ensure the quality and integrity of the research. Since the participants will be from the local psychiatric clinics, it will be important to obtain prior informed consent from them. M. What can you tell us about yourself? 4. Why are you exercising? What problem does it aim to solve for you? 5. How is your life better thanks to the practise of exercising? 6. What made you seek medical intervention? 7. What convinced you that it was a good decision? 8.
