Cervical Cancer in the Developing World Name: Institution: Cervical Cancer in the Developing World In numerous parts of the world mostly in developing world cancer is one of the top causes of deaths. In 2002 it was estimated that the number of new cancer cases was 10.9 million. When this number was segregated between males and females it was found out that more men get cancer than women (Ali Kuelker & Wassie 2012). Among women in developing world the most crucial types of cancers are gynecological including cancers of the uterine body ovary vagina cervix and vulva. Cervical cancer was the most prevalent. In fact there were 493 000 reported cases of cervical cancer in 2002 and in the same year the number of women who died due to the disease was 273 000 (Ali Kuelker & Wassie 2012). As such it a result of early marriages and HPV infection. Age is the most common non-modifiable factor of the disease in the developing world.
