Negative Stereotypes Name Institution Rapid globalization has significantly changed how culture how culture works by introducing globalization of culture. Globalization has led to cultural diversity however even amidst cultural diversity; cultural homogenization has emerged threatening the foundations of cultural diversity. Cultural homogenization fundamentally denotes the pillaging of cultural diversity through actions that stifle out cultural customs ideas and values through absorption or assimilation by a dominant global culture. Cultural homogenization can trigger the occurrence and presence of negative stereotypes. The outcome is that cultural diversity can be eroded especially for the developing world such as Africa and the Middle East. More importantly cultural homogenization can lead to negative stereotypes. Fundamentally stereotypes can be positive or negative but are often based on negative attitudes about a given people or culture. As such stereotypes are some of the biggest stumbling blocks to intercultural communication and successful intercultural exchange.
