The fact that he was so down to earth played a significant role in the recognition that he got on a worldwide scale. Graham came up with a church organization which he named after himself thus confirming that he was good at attracting attention. During the sixty-year reign of Graham as a preacher he helped to establish the American ethos by helping to come up with the myth that the United States of America is founded on Christian principles (Thomas p.36). He was keen to note that the constitution did not mention God or Jesus anywhere and as a result formed a movement that for Graham because his brand of Christianity kept Americans hardworking. He firmly believed that faith wasn't about souls or good works; it was about patriotism and politics.
