Comparing and Contrasting New Zealand’s Labor Relations Acts Ideologies Name Institution affiliation Compare And Contrast ECA 1991 and Labor Party Employment Relations Principles and Philosophies in New Zealand Introduction New Zealand’s legal system is derived from two sources; statutes that are enacted by the New Zealand parliament and common law from the courts New Zealand’s judiciary. The Employment Contracts Act 1991(ECA) was enacted in 1991. The statutes adopted a classical approach which attracted international attention. The statute viewed employment relationship based on equal bargaining power between employer and employee. The ECA act brought significant changes towards employment relationship registration from previous acts. The act was repealed in October 2000 by the Employment Relations Act 2000 (ER). The value and changes brought by ER Act have faced divisive reviews from different sectors; some have hailed it for its approach to the labor market regulations.
