Federalists and Anti-Federalists (Example)

Document Preview:

Federalists and Anti-Federalists Name Course Creation of the Constitution The institution of the American constitution marked the beginning of a national government subject to central laws. The charter was formally signed on the seventeenth of September the year 1787 by the constitutional convention in Philadelphia (Dinan 2017). Before this the US depends on extracts from the English constitution after the revolution in efforts to build a government. The creation of the US constitution was highly dependent on three major plans namely the Virginia New Jersey and Connecticut plans. The Virginia plan was developed during the convention and brought forth by the federalists that is the nationalist majority. The old patriots anti-federalists presented the New Jersey plan. The Virginia plan was one that advocated for a consolidated government that would be based on allowing a proportional opinion between these two groups of individuals in their social positions. The Federalists were mainly people from the high class; they were wealthy and prominent businessmen. The Antifederalists on the other hand were mostly workers and farmers. From what we see today it is evident that the federalists won the argument since we now have a federal government governed by a national constitution. References Dinan J. (2017). Using the Internet, review and examine the following primary source documents associated with these plans: “The Virginia Plan” at “The New Jersey Plan” at “The Connecticut Compromise” at Based on all your research and analysis of the readings for the module, describe the framework of the three plans that made up the US Constitution. Be sure to address the following: Identify the leaders of each of the three plans and describe their influence on the proceedings. Describe the features of the Virginia Plan that influenced the final language in the Constitution. Describe the features of the New Jersey Plan that were adopted into the Constitution. Discuss the reasons why the Connecticut Compromise or the Great Compromise was such a key event in the creation of the Constitution. From your twenty-first century vantage point and considering the area in which you reside, what feature in either the Virginia Plan or the New Jersey Plan was the most important and the one you would have supported?
