The Role of Cultural Critic

Camila Cabello’s solo album “Camilo” has caught the attention of many fans who have watched the one of the songs in that album called “Havana,” making it the second most viewed after the song “God's Plan” by Drake. In what way does the production of the cultural object affect the final product? The production of these two cultural objects has affected the final products. Once an idea is put in symbols or words, it becomes a cultural object.

She has stood with immigrants and the Hispanic people to help them fight for their rights. Drake on the other hand is considered the artist that best represents this generation. Some of his critics have labeled the Canadian rapper/singer as “soft”. This is because Drake has thrown away masculinity, bravado, and toughness that go hand in hand with a majority of rap music. Drake is an awesome musician who is open about his feelings, is always willing to embrace his faults, and knows how good he is. The album “Camila” positions Cabello as a direct rebuke to the current US president who uses racist terms and policies to refer to much of the Southern hemisphere. Cabello does not have to say a word about racism as the artist weaves elements of the pop experience into her songs communicating this theme clearly. Again in the song “God’s plan” and particularly its video, Drake has shown us a moral side of him that we are not used to.
