Name Tutor Subject Date Causes of Ottoman’s Transformations The Ottoman Empire was established by Osman 1 in the 14th century and it reached its uttermost in the rule of Suleiman the Magnificent during the 16th century. The realm extended from Egypt in the South to the Caucasian in the North and from Hungary in the Northwest to the Persian Gulf in the East (Pamuk 12). During the 18th and 19th century the empire experienced several challenges which led to a series of transformations. In the context of internal politics the realm endured an increasing incapability to deal with the demands for supremacy in administrations at the regional level and independence (Davison 3). In the foreign policy arena the empire transformed to the “sick man” of Europe and it faced the threat of becoming a subject to the western powers (Al-Qattan 511). In the economic sphere the increasing influence of divergent to the Muslim philosophies of the empire and other Islamic scholars the government managed to impress its command on the reluctant population. Furthermore the Tanzimat reforms were partially unsuccessful because they failed to modernize the empire and make sure it survived beyond the First World War. Works Cited Al-Qattan Najwa.
