According to Gupta, Wit, & McKeown (2007), article published in in the journal of Pediatrics & Child’s Health, highlights that disparities in wealth as well as persistent child poverty critically affects child’s health, development and general well-being. Income inequality, environmental factors as well as poverty are some of the deterrents to good health status of any industrialized nation. This study concluded that children growing up in impoverished conditions experience multiple environmental factors which influences their health negatively. Poverty and poor social environment directly increase a child’s risk for injury and death due to poor housing with leaking roof, cold and poor water supply, notwithstanding exposure to gang violence and guns (Gupta, Wit, & McKeown, 2007). School-going children at high risk for injury poor health and death under these prevailing environmental conditions Parents and children living in poor conditions reports high levels of psychological stress, difficulties in self–regulation, and elevated psychophysiological stress, these are recipes for stress various health issues for children.
