Standardized Tests Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Standardized Tests Introduction Standardized test may appear simply as two words but the term mean a world to the students teachers and parents. However the questions remains as to whether the test is helping or hurting the learning system since it comes with pros and cons. These tests have become popular and common as a way used to evaluate the academic achievements of schools districts teachers as well as their students. These tests are used in many areas including in the army medical field and civic service among others however mainly standardized tests are linked with the academic performance of students. In the education field standardized tests are mostly used to assess student’s academic performance. The SAT and ACT are the two common know and used the form of standardized tests in the United States of America. The SAT is used in evaluating significant impact on the education reform. It can be used as a universal method to evaluate the skills targeted by the tests aiming to reduce or even exclude bias or expected potential errors due to humanistic mistakes. These tests are meant to set the education standard a bit higher as well as promote objectivity. However it is not a perfect method and as discussed it comes in tandem with some issues most significantly being the preference rendered to memorization over analytic and critical thinking of a student as well as the involvement of some discrimination elements. Evaluating both sides of the argument offers a chance for improvement while still encouraging students to do their best to achieve the highest academic performance. References Kuncel N.
