Positive vs Negative mechanical ventilation

The approach aims at improving or completely reversing respiratory insufficiencies and subsequently enabling the patient restore control over his/her own ventilator/oxygenation mechanisms. This paper presents various terminologies in relation to mechanical ventilation, as well as explaining the effects of positive pressure ventilation on oxygenation and ventilation (Lew, 2003). Dynamic compliance refers to lung compliance estimated by dividing tidal volume and the varying instantaneous transpulmonary pressure when airway flow is transiently zero.
