It is not right to justify it with linguistic styles of symbolism and imagery. The author of the poem also questions the traditional poems that were only focused on achieving the linguistic, literary devices and did not depict the true nature of events. Instead, it is time poets started to accept the role of nature and describe it as it is. This is evidenced by, “. Of boy scouts from Nagoya? The snow That came when we wanted it to snow? Beautiful images? Trying to avoid”. The reveals to us that time does not allow for friendships to last that long and we should utilize and appreciate people when they are around us. Furthermore, the importance of life is brought to light when the speaker decides to get rid of his loneliness through the desires of death.

He wants to go somewhere where no man has ever traveled to, and this can only be understood as a reconnection with God in Heaven. This suicidal thoughts are the result of loneliness and depression and can only be avoided by spending time with people. The speaker would have enjoyed his life had he concentrated on worthwhile friendships. It is a piece that brings out the connection between thoughts, understanding of language and the reality. The importance of living and being able to connect the three may lead one into a futurist world where one is considered psychologically ill. "I give it back" by Joy Harjo The main theme of the poem, “I give it back “is to get rid of the fears in our lives.

In fact, as illustrated in the second last stanza where Joy Harjo says, “I take myself back, fear,” it is a poem that is geared to motivate and reveal the intricate relationship between the past and the future. It is a call to freedom that enables people to live in their past, even if it means quitting on your people and habits. For example, the tailored story features the creation of the delays that never end, the killing of the flea by Hamm and Clov, from which humanity is reborn and the repeated story of Christ, from whom a new religion was born from His death. The two main characters, Hamm and Clov, are stuck in their ancient lives (which is a resemblance of their endgame), yet they are hesitant to be ‘finished”.
