It is therefore important to evaluate the importance of these programs and to assess the implications of the results for employment, income and thus the standards of living for the indigenous people. The destruction of the socio-economic structure of the indigenous people and all forms of injustice that were meted on them resulted into accumulation of intergenerational psychological effects like mental health, depression and risk-enhancing behaviors like drugs and alcohol abuse (Alford 102). These recurrent health issues needs special medication-assisted care to solve the evident problem of very low life expectancy (Viewpoint 5). The indigenous communities are struggling with higher morbidity and mortality rates than the non-indigenous peoples, and this naturally means the aboriginals have greater health needs. Assimilation policies of the colonists discarded the indigenous people’s needs and views that eventually culminated into the high drop-out and illiteracy rates (Alford 102).

This is evident from the the constant rise in the manner in which the aboriginal youth have visibly embraced education. In the indigenous health sector, the government's IEDS program close the life expectancy gap by 2011, and to reduce by half the child mortality rate by 2018 (Indigenous Economic Development Strategy 2011 - 2018, 8) These objectives are being achieved by the improvements in the health infrastructure and making it easy to access healthcare services in Australia specifically for the aboriginals. The disbursement of U. S. 5 millions from 2010-13 to support an expexpanding indigenous health workforce recruited up to 698 positions with the indigenous given huge priorities. The knowledge acquired through education and training are not limited to be applied in employment alone, but the apprenticeship skills learnt as part of training helps the aboriginals to engage in operating their own start ups to improve their income and social standings.

There are more opportunities open for trained aboriginals to fit into industries and regions experiencing skill shortages. This is makes it easier to have an enlightened population-productive and conscious enough to break free from the chains of the Community Development Employment Project. Improved healthcare access and mental disease counseling sessions increases the productivity of the aboriginals, because it eliminates the worry of unaffordable healthcare rates, the impact of intergenerational trauma effectively handled. The amount of money and time spent on healthcare will reduce due to the government subsidies, therefore inspring hope and energy amongst the aboriginal population to become active and improve their immobile socio-economic situation.
