Jakob the Liar’ Film Review (Example)

First name last name: Course title: Professor/tutor: Date of submission: ‘Jakob the Liar’ Film Review Post World War I Polish ghetto Warsaw is the German containment area for keeping the captured Jews (Zuckerman & Barbara 46). The Poland Jewish population is completely sealed from the outside environment with the German military unit ensuring they have no access to outside information. Radios newspapers and telephones are prohibited in the ghetto. There is pervasive despondency in the containment camp as meager rations doled out among the Jews are not enough to go around. They literally live in darkness since they do not have access to information about progress of war outside the camp. Death from mistreatment from the German guards disease and rampant suicide continues to decimate the Jewish numbers. This setting presents the circumstances on which the film Jakob the Liar is based. Unbearable torture mistreatment by the Germans and continual lugubrious plays that drive toward a forgone conclusion. There are notable discrepancies in the film compared to the novel from which it is adapted. Jakob is killed infront of the Ghetto while in the novel Jakob is taken together with the other inmates to a concentration camp. In conclusion the film was well played out but did not vividly capture the intent of the holocaust. The script would have suited the film well had it been creatively crafted and tuned to evoke the true ghost of the concentration camps. Works cited Zuckerman Yitzhak and Barbara Harshav.
