Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Number Day Month Year Article Response: Curse and Blessing of the Ghetto by Jared Diamond In his article Curse and Blessing of the Ghetto Diamond tries to explain and focus on the disease Tay-Sachs. He mainly focuses on various possible explanations on why the disease has continued to coexist within Eastern European Jews well known as the Ashkenazim. The most credible explanation according to Diamond to why these diseases are passed on involves natural selection. In children according to Diamond this disease has I guess that might have been Tay-Sachs kind of a disease he was trying to enlighten people about. I wasn’t fully aware of Tay-Sachs disease but Diamond has taught me better. The advancement in what he calls screen-testing is part of the good news to the current generation and I hope this provides a pivot that several other genetically associated diseases will be curbed. Order Description:

Please use a standard word processing format to complete the following for each article you read (.8-1"margins, 10-12 pt. font). Each of the three tasks should be explained in a fully-developed paragraph to result in three paragraphs total. Each paragraph must contain at minimum three sentences (otherwise it is not a paragraph.) Directions for completing the responses (1) Summarize the main points of the article in one paragraph. This includes the author’s main argument and conclusions. What is the author trying to say? Avoid using quotes in the main idea paragraph. Include the title of the article and the author's last name in the first line of the paragraph. (2) Look at the writing with a critical eye. What tone does the author take in his or her writing? Is this author arguing from a scientific, personal, or emotional perspective? This paragraph should examine how the author writes, not what the author writes. You must include one or more quotes from the text as evidence for your argument about author’s tone. In other words, show what you mean about how the author writes by including quotes. (3) Make a connection to something other than the article. Have you heard about this subject before? If so, where and when? (For example, Do you know someone afflicted with this particular genetic disorder? Have you seen a television show dealing with this issue?) Please describe your connection. If you have no clear connection to the article, you may discuss your personal response to it in a general way. Please avoid telling me whether you "like" the article (I hope you do!) but it's irrelevant for the assignment. Please also avoid writing "I have no connection to this article." Develop one! Each article response should be no less than one full page, single or double spaced. Please include the title and author of the article in the first paragraph. You must do all writing in your own words or it is considered plagiarism. If you do draw ideas or text from another source, you must provide a reference and/or quotation marks. Article Reading:
