Therefore, they provide a means of determining the quality of nursing a patient receives in a healthcare facility, regardless of whether the services become supplied by a professional nurse alone or in conjunction with non-professional assistants. The ANA publishes several standards for nursing practice that reflects different areas of specialty nursing practice that entails Standards of Care as well as Standards of Professional Practice (Bessie and Huston, 2012). Similarly, nurses get involved in setting standards of professional performance by interacting with and contributing to the professional development of colleagues and peers. They collaborate effectively with the patient, the patient’s family, and other individuals in the conduct of nursing practice. According to Bessie and Huston (2012), the registered nurse also integrates ethical concerns and provisions in all practice field as well as the integration of research findings into their practice.
