The sickle cells get stuck in the blood vessels and hinder efficient circulation of oxygen-carrying blood and thereby result in sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is prevalent at birth whereby a toddler inherits two sickle cell genes from each parent. Sickle cell anemia in children is characterized by jaundice anemia acute chest syndrome and splenic sequestration. Although sickle cell anemia has no cure blood screening can help in early detection and treatment of the disease to reduce the complications and its associated the study are a useful tool for recommending future arbitrations as the data analysis revealed a positive correlation between cognitive development and maternal education. Given this correlation pediatricians and parents of SCD toddlers will be prompted to participate in parenting programs to gain awareness of these deficits. In summation toddlers living with the sickle cell disease have delayed development such as delayed cognition. Environmental and family factors are the primary causes of delayed development.
