Name: Class: Class number: Professor: Day and Time that the class meets: Date: Response to ‘The Invisible Gorilla’ The Invisible Gorilla by Christopher Chabris and Daniel is an insightful book. The main focus of the book is the mind; and our perceptions of how we think our mind works. The authors challenge those perceptions; terming them as illusions. As such the book largely focuses on six illusions; attention memory knowledge confidence cause and potential. Notably as the book states these are everyday illusions in the sense that we encounter them every day of our lives. They explain how these illusions can be extremely dangerous and how they can be managed. The authors make the use of real-life situations scientific experiments and fun activities to substantiate their arguments. Generally the book pushes the reader to look at certain things and life generally from a new and completely different pair of lens. of potential. I am of the opinion that the same cannot be said of academics; some students may fail subjects because they are not taking their studies seriously but the moment they do they perform. The book is a life-changing piece of literature; it is mind-blowing. It challenges the very perception of reality itself. It has challenged me to change the way I look at life; to scrutinize and analyze everything instead of relying on intuition. While it may be said that our minds are paradoxical it is not wide off the mark to conclude that the level of inconsistency in our thoughts and perceptions can be trimmed. It is a good read for anybody intrigued with the everyday functioning of the mind. Words: 2214 Works Cited Chabris Christopher and Daniel Simons.
