Amongst the group of students, revision was understood as a rewording activity. A symbolic importance was placed by the students on their rejection and selection of words as a determinant of their success or failure in what they wrote. They, therefore, worried about list repetition and eliminated this through substitution and deleting words and phrases. This behavior can be attributed to their understanding of revision which is a process of lexical changes rather than semantic changes (Sommers, 1980, p. However, experienced adult writers had a different perception. However, writing provides the possibility of drafting and redrafting before the final product is created. The experienced writers utilized this to seek the dissonance of discovery. In conclusion, revision should not be a set of vocabulary substitution, but a process of exploring ideas that define the main point of work while rewriting drafts.
