However, I disagree with the views of critiques who fail to recognize Cummings satirical view, his wonderful observations and his use of words which can be described as skillful. These individuals who criticize E. E Cummings' works do not have respect for the relevance of the particular words and the struggle and effort he put into his poetry. Edward Estlin Cummings was born on October 14, 1894, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has been described as being part of the most innovative contemporary poets applying the use of capitalization and unconventional punctuation and also letter placements. The poet earned himself a degree in Bachelor of Arts from Harvard and later on relocated to France when he volunteered to serve with the Ambulance Corps during World War 1.

Cummings choose to stay in France after the war where he kept himself busy with writing and painting (Short, 255). The experience he gained from writing and painting played a crucial role in enhancing the meaning and relevance of the poems he wrote. He later on relocated to the United States. The Iconic poet passed on in 1962 in Conway, New Hampshire leaving behind a legacy and setting standards for Poets that would come after him. Cummings' use of words was playful and at the same time creative. He believed in the in the freedom of expression and even went ahead to demonstrate this in his poems. The individuals who criticize the works and poetry of E. E. Cummings need to realize that any art out there, in this case, poetry, was, is and will continue to be distinctly and strictly a question of individuality (Short, 280).

The critics who continue to criticize Cummings should looks at things from the poet's perspective. Cumming's view and perception of the world is different from that of most people. It is this difference that results in the varying in the techniques he applies accordingly in their nature and functions. Cummings created a degree of opposition to societal norms when he decided to place his focus on the need for individual integrity (Li, Xin, and Mengchen, 39). The poetry Cummings wrote dealt with several subjects and areas of everyday life ranging from physical life, to praising and thanking God for the miracle of life. Cummings include since Feeling is First, Next to of Course God America 1, I Sing of Olaf Glad and Big, Somewhere I have never Travelled Gladly Beyond, Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town, Buffalo's Bill, In Just, and I Carry Your Heart with me among others (Short, 304).

These poems and more are the reason why Cummings remains one of the most relevant personalities in English Poetry. The satire present in Cummings' Poems are radical and at the same time pervasive. The unique thing about Cummings poems is that the verses of his poems are usually in lowercase; Cummings only applied the use of Uppercase only when it was necessary to the work (Li, Xin, and Mengchen, 47). From his poems, one is able to note that the form and application of compounds words are of relevance to the verse instead of being arbitrary. Cummings was a great poet who was born in 1894 and passed on in 1962, a period in which he made a huge impact in the world of poetry.
