The AAPF relies on social media activism like YouTube video messages and Twitter hashtags. By creating the hashtag #SayHerName, the group helped create a platform for highlighting state-sanctioned violence and police brutality against black women. The group relies on YouTube, like sharing videos like that of a police officer assaulting a black female student in a classroom (Jiménez, 2016). The strengths of the agency’s social media presence are that it attracts a large following. The organization seeks to increase eye-catching visual content on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. When interacting with the audience, its officials are encouraging, helpful, and courteous (Penney, 2014).

Also, the organization relies on earned exposure; by partnering with relevant influencers like government officials, athletes, and celebrities (Lee, & Hsieh, 2013,). The other effective strategy lies in its management structure. The AAPF can improve its social media strategies by merely copying the models advocated by other social justice groups. First, the organization should come up with a social media communication team similar to that of the HRC. The team should be tasked with running its Twitter and YouTube communication modes. The proposal would be to have a central communication system comprised of national governing committees that should help set the platform for regional and national advocacy of their mission.
