The development of a checklist is centered on the historical knowledge, previous information about projects and information from other sources. Checklist analysis is one of the easiest methods that is used in project management to identify potential risks processes of a project. A checklist can be used even by people with less expertise. However, comprehensive checklists are difficult to develop since even similar projects are likely to have unique risks. Annotated bibliography Rose, Kenneth H. Myers, John J. "RISK-BASED DECISION MAKING (RBDM) GUIDELINES. In the article risk-based decision making (RBDM) guidelines, Myers John describes the tools and techniques used by the United States Coast Guard to identify and evaluate potential risks. One of the tools that have been discussed in the article is the checklist analysis.

According to the author, checklist analysis technique is a proven method of identifying risks, addressing potential problems and providing recommendations that are important in decision making concerning marine safety. In the article Use and benefits of tools for project risk management, the authors Raz and Michael focus on risk management as an integral part of project management. The article describes various tools that are used in evaluating the risky processes in a project. The authors conduct a study in order to determine which tool is used in project management particularly the tools that are effective and result to project success. Checklist analysis was among the risk evaluation tool that was being investigated for effectiveness. The study was conducted among a sample group that constituted project managers from high-tech and software companies and their responses were assessed.

The author makes it clear that he is not referring to risk management but rather in risk analysis. The article is founded from a series of risk analysis seminars and workshops within a period of ten years and with the contribution of people from Europe, South East Asia, and Scandinavia. Although the texts do not place more emphasis on checklists, it provides evidence that checklist is one of the effective tools in risk assessment. Franke, Armin. "Risk analysis in project management. " Industrial Management & Data Systems 104. In this article, the authors provide research data about the how risk management tools and techniques are used managing the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT). The BOT is one of the riskiest projects and presents a great opportunity in the identification of the appropriate risk management tool.
