Student’s name Professor’s name Affiliated institution Date A Doll’s House In Henrik Ibsen’s play “A doll’s house” the writer uses Nora Helmer as the main character who portrays what kind of challenges women are faced with today. Such challenges include misjudgment where men assume women as innocent and weak because of their gender. Nora a heroine of the play is a young woman who is engaged to Torvald Helmer. The family has three children. Torvald disrespects his wife by calling her names like “little squirrel” and taking out a loan. In conclusion Ibsen portrays Nora as a selfish woman when she decides to leave her husband and the children. She is therefore not justifiable to leave her family including their three children. The writer uses the character of Nora to show the human being character instead of the woman character in the play. Through Nora we can see how women came to gain their freedom and rights in the society. Work cited Ibsen Henrik and Non Worrall. A Doll's House. A&C Black 2008. [...]
