You are innocent on that. It happens to us at some point in life. LAN is an abbreviation for Local Area Network. This is a connection of devices on smaller networks mostly within a home or an office. These networks consist of a group of computers, printers and other networking devices that are connected together and are able to communicate with each other. These include information exchange, file transfers, internet connection sharing, shared disk, and printer sharing. The second step after considering the purpose of your LAN. You need to make available the following network components needed to set up LAN. Ethernet cables, switch, network interface, computer and in case you need to connect to the internet you will need a broadband connection, router, and a modem if there isn’t one built in your router.

After which you determine the number of devices that will connect to the LAN network, in case you have many devices you can use an additional switch, the devices should not be more than 100 meters or 300 feet apart to prevent data loss and in case it passes then an additional switch is to be used. After all, devices are set, all connections are made and checked to be correctly placed, the last step is to test the connectivity and services if they are functioning as required. LAN performance will depend on the cable category used, connected devices and quality of installation. It is advisable to test each of the workstations if each is able to print, connect to the local server or connect to the internet.
