The Joad family also follows suit after they are ejected out of their farm. The central themes in this story are love and unity of the human race. It shows the need for human beings to cooperate and come together when conditions are not favorable instead of each person moving in their direction. The novel is divided into six units each with a certain number of chapters. This essay will be based on chapters twenty to twenty-two. At one night, Floyd is accused of trying to steal from a car, and the accusers attempt to arrest him, but he hits the cop and escapes. Tom trips the police as he shots in the direction Floyd escaped to and Casy also kicks him at the back of his head, and as a result, he becomes unconscious.

Casy accepts to take the blame on behalf of Tom who goes hiding in the nearby river. In this chapter, the small family unit is gradually replaced by a larger world family unit making it a step towards achieving a community unity. In chapter twenty-one, people are still flowing into California searching for jobs which landowners had advertised but were now not available. These officials are also responsible for making decisions concerning the camp and punishing deviants in the camp. They are told that there are dances performed on Saturdays at night and this is a relief to them as the camp seems better than the previous one. Tom then meets his new neighbors the following day and they accept to help him to get a job.

Unfortunately for them, when they reach the workplace, their employer tells them that The Farmers Association has demanded that the wage per hour must be reduced from thirty cents to twenty-five failure to which the farmer's crop loan will not be renewed. Mr. Mr. Hines who was a small farmer also shares with them the evil plans by the Farmers Association to disrupt the order in the government camp. Conclusion This book analyzes the pains through which humans undergo, but through cooperation and determination, they always win at the end. It also has several incidences of biblical allusion such as when Casy went into the wilderness like Christ to have a spiritual rebirth. People need to show love to one another and be ready to help them when in need as Casy stood up for Tom.
