The inability to access enough food is becoming an issue in many populations globally. Approximately 795 million people in the world are suffering from undernourishment. Millions of people live in “food deserts” meaning that they have to walk for miles to access food. Limited mobility, lack of new food options, economic barriers and low incomes are what mostly contribute to inequality in food systems. As a college student, I have a busy schedule and I rarely find enough time to prepare a nutritious meal. Most people do not take healthy meals simply because accessing food is quite a challenge. In order to curb this situation, first, the government should formulate better food policies. These policies should improve how food is processed, produced, purchased and distributed.
