The sample size selected in the process of data gathering has a significant effect on the quality of findings or results. When samples and variables used in data gathering are excessively large or extremely small, the outcome may be incorrect or biased (Bloomfield, Nelson & Soltes 2016). Variables and Samples are central in the data gathering process and have a direct impact on the outcome of the exercise. Changes in variables or samples can have a vast impact on the outcome of the process; it is significantly important for the researchers to closely monitor and record the effects of these variables. Variables and samples are of great importance in the process of data gathering because they help in minimizing errors which may occur as a result of a large population.

Samples and variables ease accuracy and use of representations. Samples are randomly selected and are used to represent and give detailed information about the larger population. Evidently, there can be no easier tool which is easier and one which can bring accuracy than the use of samples and variables. With the use of samples and variables, a researcher does not need to divide the whole population into sub-portions or pluck out research subject from the larger population; this is because samples only require random selection. TEDTalks videos After keenly reviewing one of the TEDtalks videos I decided to watch the Anne Milgram: Why Smart Statistics are the Key to Fighting Crime. Milgram compares the judges to baseball scouts who indistinctively use their experience and instincts to judge instead of using data and statistics.
