He was a Chinese born in America, and this only made matters more complicated when it came to understanding how cultures work. He had been taught the ways of their people by his parents but much less than was enough to adopt. As he grew up in the American diverse cultural system, he hard issues being one of them. One of the personal problems with identity that Liu faced was Hairstyle. Liu’s hair could not just conform to the current trends that he saw in school (Liu 24). This was not easy, given his origin. As much as he tried, it was not possible for him, an adolescent young man of Asian origin to get the ladies attention. Liu was determined to receive the ladies attention, making him an “overachiever” (Liu 20).
