This is reminiscent of McDonald’s of customer self-service in McDonald’s (Hayes et al. McDonaldization is also evident in the way students have been taught to write paragraphs and essays. According to most teachers, a paragraph is supposed to be composed of a topic sentence followed by at least three supporting ideas and a conclusion. Thus, essays become predictable, and a reader expects to find the topic in the first sentence, which makes writing predictable just as it is in the food franchise (Ritzer, 2009).
