Name Professor Course Date Comparing “The Longest Day” and “Saving Private Ryan” Introduction The film of “The longest day” was first filmed in 1962. This is after the second world war where America was forced to side with the allies in celebrating the victory they had achieved. Richard Burton and John Wayne which were the stars of the time were featured in the film. “Saving private Ryan” on the other hand was later released in 1998. Stephen Spielberg its director purposely used the movie to show how horrific and grim a war is. In order to achieve this he interviewed people who were directly involved in the events of the war. In comparing the two films various aspects will be looked at. I will as well aim at looking at the way each of the two directors tells the story of the movie using sound effects cameras and editing Longest Day” and “Saving Private Ryan” are set around the same theme. This is the main similarity between them. In the above discussion additional similarities and differences between the two films have been presented. The differences between the two are majorly dictated by the goals targeted by each director. Works cited Landon Phil.
