Fauve artists were talented in using pure and brilliant colors aggressively applied from direct paint tube which made their paints look great. This movement was led by Henri Matisse and André Derain from 1904 until 1908, when fauvism came to an end. Cubism This is one of the early style and movement in art- especially in the painting art- which was practiced in Paris from 1907 1904. The cubist style emphasized the use of flat, two dimensions of a particular plane and pictures that imitated nature. This movement was not bound to copying color, space, texture and space. Jean Arp and Richard Hollenbeck were among the initiators of this movement. Surrealism This is an artistic and philosophical movement which explored the workings of an irrational, poetic and revolutionary min.

These artists aimed at revolutionizing human experiences, rejection of a rational mind and favor of future hopes in life. Surrealists found magic and improved quality beauty and they represented these by having shiny and colorful paintings. They used automatic drawing and writings to open up ideas and various images from their minds. It was characterized by numerous gestural brush- strokes and styles of marks- making on the pictures. Art now gave great impression of spontaneity and made New York became a center of the world. Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko successfully led these American painters. Formalist Abstraction Formalism is the study of art based on what it is made of and how it looks. Formalists describe the vital image of modern art in real world.
