Interview of Someone Different Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Interview of Someone Different The person I interviewed is a 33-year-old black female from Nigeria. She was born and spent most of her life in Nigeria. She came to America to pursue a post-graduate education in education management. She is a teacher by profession with work experience. She was a high school teacher in her hometown back in Nigeria before getting a scholarship to continue her education. The woman seemed to be enthusiastic and very much willing to talk about her story. As a woman several cultural requirements are expected from her. She is the second born which should imply that she is a mediator or a negotiator. However she is the first-born girl in their family. Eldest girls in a family are expected to take leadership roles by guiding the younger girls on several issues including self-care strategies. However the significant when compared to one’s culture. Jane’s parents were highly educated even though the surrounding was composed of high levels of illiteracy. That can explain Jane’s motivation to pursue her dreams. American and Nigerian society are two different cultures that are likely to produce different personalities and that can explain the difference between I and Jane despite the fact that she does not represent the typical Nigerian woman.
