Ethical and Cultural Relativism vs Ethical Absolutism

Both ethical relativism and ethical absolutism are related in the sense that they try to provide ethical understanding on moral reasoning and beliefs in the highly dynamic society, cultures and situations (Chao, Li & Chen, 2016). Cultural relativism is the belief that the moral actions and practices of an individual are valid and true relative to their own culture (Leary, 2017). Given the acceptance of different norms and moral within different cultures, a person practicing ethical relativism will be open minded to the belief and perception of the various values and moral lesson behind the action of individual accepted practice in that a particular culture. He /she has the understanding that different people will react differently to similar moral situation therefore he holds no absolute moral position the norms and action of the culture for the given period of time (Chao, Li, & Chen, 2016).
