Every year, about one point two trillion masses of crude sewage and industrial waste is dumped into the US waters. Children makeup about 10% and are most affected by over 40% of diseases caused by environmental pollution. More than about three million children under the age of five die annually due to diseases caused by environmental factors (Sandoval, 56). Recycling could minimize such factors. This paper will discuss the relevance and benefits of recycling, the steps of recycling, which materials can be recycled and how recycling creates employment in many countries across the world. Through a reduction in the amount of energy used during manufacturing, the cost of production is also reduced, this means that the pricing of products will also change making them cheaper and more affordable to individuals and target market groups.

Besides saving energy, protecting the environment and conserving natural resources, recycling has contributed to a reduction in unemployment rates in many countries that have come to embrace it. This is because people have to be hired to collect, sort and work in recycling companies. To a larger extent, other individuals obtain jobs by working with companies/ organizations that work with these recycling companies. The EPA released data on the economic benefits of recycling in the year 2016. Materials that can be recycled include paper waste which includes books, magazines, newspapers, envelopes and cardboard boxes; plastic waste that includes water bottles, plastic carrier bags, plastic wrappers and rubber bags; glass waste that includes broken bottles, wine or beer bottles, and aluminum waste such as soda cans, or cans used to contain fruits or foodstuffs (Davies, 66).

To make work easier, collection at household levels, households or institutions should be given different bags to gather waste, to separate the recyclables from other materials. This makes sorting much easier by labeling the bags for different kinds of wastes to avoid consuming much time during sorting. It would also be kin to note that there are different terms used in the field of recycling and this include recycled content to mean that the product was manufactured using recycled material collected from either the recycling or manufacturing process; post-consumer content to mean it was made up of recycled material collected during the recycling process and not manufacturing process and finally, recyclable product.
