In the movie-making schools, production industries, Hollywood and theatres, Citizen Kane remains one of the most studied films in the 20th century. Produced in 1941, the film was an embodiment of the American mystery and drama films that elicited the highest levels of theatric production in the history of the Hollywood. In this paper, the focus is to look at how the narrative structure of the film has been used to influence the production of the modern-day films. The narrative structure, the sound, and cinematography techniques have been utilized in the film to improve the movie productions. In other words, the paper will consider the possible impact of the movie to the contemporary productions based on the traditional film productions of the 1950’s.

By sliding the portable chairs and tables into position in minute 44 scene, the long takes ensured that the various items increased the visibility of the movie. Expressionistic Lighting Throughout the movie, the lighting system used was chiaroscuro where the German expressionism modes were used to create a prefigured visual American style of film production. By creating the legendary lighting, the plot is adequately reflected enabling the viewers to understand the major character in the film which was Charles Foster Kane. By creating an expressionist lighting, the fitting in the film creates a note of eternal mystery in the film. For instance, with the reporters and Kane’s wife being the center of focus at the beginning of the movie, a note of continued mystery is created.
