McClane is a key figure in the movie where he participates in various activities that reflect his character as well as brings out major themes. His understanding of weaponry is instrumental in playing the violent scenes. We also see him taking drugs to reflect his masculine character. The character's male nature is revealed by wisecracking. As such we observe a great relationship between masculinity and violence in the movie. Another notable point is that McClane intends to become a real family man. He is brave and creation of the film.
