The Puritans includes the “separating Puritans” like “Plymouth colonists” and “non-separating Puritans” such as colonies that participated in settling the “Massachusetts Bay Colony” who followed the ideas of John Eliot. Thus, this paper will explore the history of Puritan in New England and will critically discuss the troubles that “Puritans of Massachusetts” encountered in the process of pushing forward for their agendas. The paper will also cover the reason why New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island were settled. The nature of life of “Puritan New England” was unique from that of England as well as the rest of Europe. This is based on the fact that, they pushed for the idea of literacy in order to equip every individual with the power to read the Bible.

” In most cases, women were more accused than men based on the stereotype that women were highly vulnerable to the Devil due to their weaker constitutions. This resulted in cases of Puritans execution regardless of concrete evidence as most of them were mistaken to practice witchcraft because of the strange or threatening appearance. Most of these executions were carried out in “Salem Village”, especially in 1692 (Khan Academy, par. Despite the belief that the Puritans left England with an intention of gaining religious freedom, their ideas displayed them as intolerant just like the church of English. This is due to their actions to banish leaders such as “Roger Williams as well as Anne Hutchinson” because of questioning Governor Winthrop while in “Massachusetts Bay”.
